  1. How did the book, Mentor: The Kid & The CEO, impact your life?

  2. It inspired me to take action ... to list my goals, to encourage others to read the book, to share the practices in the book.

  3. What actions are you going to take now as a result of reading
Mentor: The Kid & The CEO?

  4. I have already taken some actions: sharing the book with family, friends, and co-workers. I am evaluating the amount that I am saving. I am determining whether I am a good mentor and what types of mentors I need in order to develop.

  5. What are you going to do with the $1,000 CASH?

  6. I was going to buy more books. But since I also got $1,000 worth of books, I am going to put it all in the bank. Thanks for the free books to share.

  7. Which mentor in your life has had the most impact on you and why?

  8. I have been blessed to have many mentors in my life, personal as well as career. If I had to choose, though, it would definitely be my parents, James and Gertrude. They provided me with a Christian family and even now still remain my "trusted counselors."

  9. What are you going to do with the $1,000 worth of free books?

  10. Share them! I plan to give some to the NC Baptist Children's Homes, Big Brother Big Sister of the Triangle, local church prison ministry, military units deployed to Iraq, co-workers, church family, alma maters (NC State University and University of North Carolina at Pembroke) and a couple of copies for my nephew and his classmates at West Point Military Academy.

  11. What has been the most memorable moment of your life?

  12. Commissioning day as a lieutenant in the Army.

  13. Do you have a special mentoring story you would like to share?

  14. Bill, a former boss, allowed me to vent about my unhappiness and frustration with my military career. He then asked what I planned to do. I replied that I planned to resign. He advised me to "give it twelve months and then make a decision." He knew that it was just a valley and within twelve months, the situation would change. He was right. I have now completed twenty adventurous years with the military with no regrets.

John, a military mentor, advised be from the beginning to "manage my own career." He told me that I was the best person to manage my career and to do what was best for me. He was right and I keep realizing this truism throughout my life.

  1. How did the book, Mentor: The Kid & The CEO, impact your life?

  2. The book Mentor: The kid & The CEO impacted my life in ways that I didn't know a book could. This book has taught me to go for what I believe in and not to give up. I say this because if you want something then you have to go for it and believe that you can do it.

  3. What actions are you going to take now as a result of reading
Mentor: The Kid & The CEO?

  4. I have always been somebody who would say things like "I can't do it" and things like that. I never really believed in myself and that I can do things if I want it and believe i can do it. Ever sense I have read the book, I have believed more in myself and accomplished things I have never thought I would have the courage to do. My actions from now will be well thought out and will have more belief in them.

  5. What are you going to do with the $1,000 CASH?

  6. I have thought of lots of possibilities of what I will do with the 1,000 dollars. I have also talked to my family about this because I feel like I can learn a lot about how to invest my money. The first thing I thought of when I realized I won was maybe I will put all of it for my collage and then I thought maybe I should give it to my mother. I have always dreamed about going to collage and becoming a teacher. After I thought about that I started thinking about all the things my mother has done for me. People may say that's what moms are for but is that really true. My opinion on that is well yeah but soon enough you can do those things on your own. What I am saying is that my mom has worked so hard throughout years and she deserves something nice. I do know that I am going to take 10% out and take my mom out to eat and to get our nails done. The rest of my money is going to go into a good investment that my family is currently helping me with. I will save that money for something in the future for school purposes.

  7. Which mentor in your life has had the most impact on you and why?

  8. I am going to say that my mom is because she has been there through thick and thin. My mom has always taught me to love and care for people not only for people but also for yourself. My mom has taught me many things in my life so far but the most important advice that she has given me that I currently use a lot is to be true to yourself and others.

  9. What are you going to do with the $1,000 worth of free books?

  10. I have given some books away and I am still looking for more opportunities to change someones life. I have given 3 books to my moms friends from work who is passing the word about it and is giving the other 2 books to her cousin and sister. The other thing I have done so far is I am giving my uncle a class set for his class because most of his school and students come from people in jail and gangs. My uncle and I are hoping that they will read this and maybe make them choose a different path in life.

  11. If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?

  12. If I could change one thing in this world right now it would be the way people act and think of each other. I have been around people once before that have judged each other by there cover. I think and believe that that is not fair. You should get to know the person before saying anything. I also have never understood why people fight.

  1. How did the book, Mentor: The Kid & The CEO, impact your life?

  2. Between reading the book and meeting Tom Pace, the impact has been great. Both have re-energized and re-inspired me. There are several things in my life that are less than positive. I used to be a positive person and would not let the negative sink in but lately more negativity has affected me more than I would like. I know reading this book, winning the books (and sharing them) and winning the $1000 has helped me make a turnaround.

  3. What actions are you going to take now as a result of reading
Mentor: The Kid & The CEO?

  4. The first action I am starting with is believing in myself no matter what. I am an advocate of Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace. The last few years I have not practiced his teachings as I should and I am inspired to get back on track toward Financial Peace. I find lots of mentors through reading and I am going to keep that up. While going through the Reading List, I was pleased that I have read over 25% of the reading list. One of my new goals is to read everything on the list at the rate of at least one book per month. I am a distributor with Homemade Gourmet and I have set a goal to be a director with the company within two years. I consider myself a jack of all trades and master of none and I am going to focus my energies more positively.

  5. What are you going to do with the $1,000 CASH?

  6. My girls and I were talking about taking a trip to California to visit family either this summer or next summer. When my daughter, Danielle, was entering the drawing she said, "When I win the $1000, I am going to put the money toward our trip to California." Since I won first, most of my money is going toward the California trip also. I recently had a friend offer me the opportunity to go to California for 6 days for the price of airfare. So I am going with ther to Los Angeles in March. I don't usually do things for myself so this is definitely out of my comfort zone. Winning the drawing helped me make my decision to do something for myself.

  7. Which mentor in your life has had the most impact on you and why?

  8. God is the best mentor anyone can have. He is always there and you can talk to him anywhere, anytime and he will answer you and will lead you when you listen.

  9. What are you going to do with the $1,000 worth of free books?

  10. I was introduced and given the book from Yukon's Helping Hand Director, Christine Sorrels. Helping hands volunteers work in the schools helping teachers with whatever they need from copying, typing, making educational games and much more. After reading the book I contacted Lakeview Middle School about writing and accelerated reading test for the school. With the books I have recieved, I am donating books to all of the Yukon Public schools...Elementary through High School and the public library. I have given books to my Sunday school class at the First United Methodist Church in Yukon and one of the church committees I belong to. I have been giving them to family and friends. I am a distributor for Homemade Gourmet. I have been recommending the book to other distributors. We have a regional meeting in Tulsa and I look forward to giving some to other distributors, the CEO Ken Johnson and the founder Tami Van Hoy. When I received the 2 big boxes of books, I thought to myself "Who do I know to give all these books to?" It has been a wonderful experience and as I am giving away the last half of the 2nd box, I feel RE-ENERGIZED, RE-INSPIRED AND FABULOUS.

  11. What has been the most memorable moment of your life?

  12. The three most memorable moments in my live are my three girls: Danielle, Tasha and Jamie. There is nothing better than being the mother of three wonderful girls!

  13. Any last words?

  14. I think it would be great if everyone would mentor. The world would be a better place.

  1. How did the book, Mentor: The Kid & The CEO, impact your life?

  2. It helped me to look at life in a way that I am not prone to. I often get caught up in “the big picture.” This book allowed me to re-examine things in more of a step-by-step view. In a way, it revealed to me how simple achieving my dreams can be.

  3. What actions are you going to take now as a result of reading
Mentor: The Kid & The CEO?

  4. I have already begun to save 10% of all the money we earn. I was never sure how much was enough, but this seems very realistic. I have passed the book along to family and to students in my community; making them aware that it is incredibley worthwhile for such a short time commitment. I am brainstorming ideas to begin my own business... feeling now that it really IS possible. I will be running 4 times per week, as soon as we lose some of our snow! For now, I am snowshoeing.

  5. What are you going to do with the $1,000 CASH?

  6. After saving 10% of it, I will pay down my debt, as it is part of my Dream List to be debt free in five years.

  7. Which mentor in your life has had the most impact on you and why?

  8. I would have to say my husband. I have known him now for 13 years, and he continues to teach me new things. He was the first person that showed me that love and family are what you put into them.

  9. What are you going to do with the $1,000 worth of free books?

  10. I am happy to report that I will be donating them to the Middle School Library that I work in.

  11. What has been the most memorable moment of your life?

  12. Hands down, it is the birth of my daughter. She is five now, and our family was so blessed the day she arrived, and every day after.

  13. Any last words?

  14. Working with middle school-aged children has really shown me that, no matter how well provided for a child is, they still are searching for people around them that aren’t afraid to show them acceptance, give them praise, and make them aware that the world is out there waiting for them to leave their mark on it. I think often, if a child does not appear “needy,” we are quick to dismiss that they still are looking to shape their perspective of the world around them. They still need guidance, even if their other wants are provided for.
